Activity: The ‘Monster Feet’ project

If you’d like to organise an activity for children – either indoors or outdoors – here is one great idea.

Using light card or coloured paper, design and cut out monster feet together. These need to be big enough for your child to stand on and can be any shape feet, lots of different shapes too!

Lay the monster feet on the ground facing in different directions. You can do this inside or outside.

Follow the monster path with your child, introducing positional language. Forwards, backwards, sideways, left, right, higher, lower. You can also jump over any gaps.

Engage your child’s imagination by asking open questions about where the journey might lead you both.

Extension: Use the monster feet for a game of Twister or Hopscotch by arranging them differently!
