Elements of Learning

Building Confident Learners

At Jellybeans Childcare, we embrace the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). This framework ensures that the children in our care experience quality teaching and learning. Its emphasis is on play-based learning, with recognition of the great importance of communication and language, as well as social and emotional development. We recognise parents as primary educators. In working in partnership with our families, we will provide opportunities for every child to maximise their potential.

Through our centre goals our children will:

  • Learn who they are
  • Be safe and healthy
  • Relate positively to others and enjoy themselves during their time at the centre
  • Learn in appropriate ways
  • Learn to respect the natural environment
  • Not be limited to gender or race
  • Use decision-making that will be shared and conflict resolved peacefully
  • Be prepared for a successful transition to school

School Readiness Program

Our specialised School Readiness program is led by our qualified team of educators including a University trained Early Childhood Teacher who work together to deliver the best quality education experience to prepare your child for kindy and beyond.

Our team of educators and carers create detailed and specific programmes that are tailored suited to meet the needs of individual children’s needs, interests, family background, culture, and local community. We promote positive social, physical, mental, linguistic and cognitive growth which aims to boost skills in the areas of language and literacy. We also encourage a passion for visual arts and crafts, music, singing and dance, mathematics, science, social studies, writing and reading as well as games and play. We believe children learn best through play as it opens up so many avenues for mental growth and development.

We aim to provide you and your child with a smooth transition to school. This program will assist in the development of confidence, independence, social skills and learning ability; making the adjustment to school life a little easier.

Our Approach

At Jellybeans Childcare, we provide a holistic approach to your child’s education. It is one which encompasses every aspect of the child and nurtures their development.

Jellybeans Childcare believes that all children have the right to learn and develop at their own pace and learning in the best way they know how: through play. Our play-based learning ideal stems from the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) which aims to nurture different aspects of a child’s development.

Our approach aims to encourage a child’s sense of self, for children should be encouraged to see themselves as confident, powerful, valued, and constructive contributors to their community and the world around them. We also believe in the children who communicate: for children must learn to communicate with others of different backgrounds and age groups and in return must interpret messages received from them. This aspect readies them for relationship building once they reach school age and helps them to negotiate and express their feelings.

The thinking child is another aspect of our play-based approach for children learn to become tireless investigators, searching for new and greater information, they become explorers, experimenters, and problem solvers: key skills required for a successful future. Through our purpose built centre, we promote fit and active lifestyles to create healthy, physically active children who develop in all areas of physical activity and appreciate for good, wholesome foods – learning the difference between what’s right for our bodies, and what’s okay for a treat in moderation.

With these elements combined, the children at Jellybeans Childcare become socially adept, for the play in positive environments that promote respectful and life enhancing relationships. In turn, children begin to recognise and accept their feelings, learn how to express them properly and learn to sympathise and empathise with others.

Our learning environments are custom-made to celebrate the creativity in our children, allowing them the opportunity to invent, imagine, communicate and behave in different ways. In turn, this assists in helping children to develop a sense of reverence for life, appreciation for the beauty in nature and inspiration to take on and follow through with their own creative endeavours.

Parent teacher communication

One of the foundations to ensure we achieve the best for every child is that we believe that fostering collaborative partnerships with families and carers in fundamental.

Your child’s day will be documented on a daily basis for your perusal in learning journals, which incorporates details such as their sleeping habits, toilet practices, your child’s response to the day and any health and safety issues that may have arisen. Our educators will also speak with you informally upon collection of the child or through phone calls if any issues arise during the day.

At Jellybeans Childcare, we have a range of links with community and support agencies in our services to ensure that we support every child’s learning and development to ensure that they are prepared for the next stage.

Throughout the year we offer more formal types of parent/teacher interaction as interviews where we can discuss your child and their progress in more depth. They are often held shortly after report cards are sent home so that achievements and concerns can be discussed and we can propose the best course of action.

Just like every child is different, so is each parent/teacher interview.  This will reflect that individuality. However, the following matters are often discussed:

  • All areas of development for the child – samples of work may be shown.
  • The parent’s and teacher’s expectations for the child.
  • How the teacher evaluates progress.
  • How parents and teachers can work together on a continuing basis to encourage the child to do well.

We are also here to support you in your role as a parent, so if at any time you wish to learn more about our service and how you can be involved in your child’s education and care please feel free to speak with one of our friendly qualified educator’s.

Our centre’s qualified carers provide programs based around the My Time, Our Place Framework.

Before School Care offers a range of stimulating activities to get your children’s minds warmed up leading into the school day. The After School Care program allows the children to plan their own afternoon activities selected from a list provided and with consultation from parents, assistance with homework can be provided by our experienced and qualified educators.

Care is also provided for the school holidays to keep the children’s mind’s active and drive away some of the boredom of the long breaks. This holiday care offers a wide range of activities and excursions to put some variety into the holiday schedule.
