On Saturday, November 22nd, Marmion OSHC was able to be a part of the amazing Marmion Primary School Fete.
The sun was shining, everyone was in high spirits and so much fun was had. We had lots of new little visitors come to check out our stall and take some time to join us for art and craft (including painting and finger knitting), play dough, and balloon blowing activities.
Our current children were busy preparing for the Fete all week at after school care by making their own play dough and practicing their finger knitting. One of our girls, Eva, knew how to do it. She had great patience and gave excellent instructions to help the rest of us learn how to finger knit. It was very therapeutic and a little addictive (it’s hard to put down once you get going). Next we are going to progress to finger knitting using 4 fingers.
On the morning of the Fete our friends took total control of setting up the stall and laying out the experiences for our visiting families.
It is wonderful that our current children feel so connected to and in charge of the service that they attend. They took full ownership of the Jellybeans stall and were very proud of how it looked and of the attention it received from new families.
Friendships made at after school care are strong and this was evident when our friends from Carine Primary School gave up their usual Saturday morning plans to come down to support both Marmion Primary School and the Jellybeans stall at the Fete. They got to meet up with their jellybeans friends while making some new friends as well.
The atmosphere at the Fete was electric. We are very lucky at Marmion OSHC to be a part of such an awesome school community.”
